Since 1967, when the Ackerman family bought the first few stores, the vision for Pick n Pay has grown and expanded. There are now Pick n Pays outside of South Africa; with stores in Namibia, Botswana, Zambia, Mozambique, Mauritius, Swaziland and Lesotho. Pick n Pay also owns a 49% share in TM Supermarkets, a Zimbabwean supermarket business.

As major retailer in Africa, Pick n Pay also strive to address some of the socio-economic challenges of the continent through the supply of high-quality, affordable food and job opportunities across its value chain. Pick n Pay also strive to bring relief and a better quality of life through their CSI initiatives.
